~Baby Sprinkle~

I don't have any kids.
Kids don't seem to like me.
Parents say that it's because they can smell my
fear (or distaste) for them...
kind of a sixth sense or whatever.

So I guess it's kind of weird that I have actually hosted
THREE baby showers so far!
What's up with that???

Anyway,
this time around I was co-hosting a baby shower
for a wonderful friend of mine.

She and her Husband have decided to stay
in the dark regarding the
gender of their bun in the oven.

Just so you know,
for a control freak like myself
planning a gender neutral shower is kinda hard.
We went for a "Rustic Country" theme
that allowed us to use
natural and earthy tones.

I must say that it turned out exactly as I pictured in my head.
The Guest of Honor enjoyed her day,
so I say it was a success!

Classic White cake with a Lemon scented Buttercream

Red Velvet cake cubes dipped in milk chocolate and topped with chocolate tiles.
(in hand made boxes using scrapbook paper)

Italian Lemonade in super cute mason jars.

Hand made diaper cake with the baby shower game prizes.

March Photo a Day Series

Saturday came along with gorgeous weather
so Husband and I made a beeline for the mountains.

After a wonderful afternoon  in Piancavallo,
soaking up the sun and rock climbing
we had a huge dinner at a local BBQ joint to celebrate St. Patrick's day.

There was no time to stop and post my photos since the late night/early morning
partying kept us in bed until 1pm on Sunday!!!!

Gross.

So here are my photos from Saturday and Sunday.

Day 14: Clouds

I got lost driving around town and happened to stumble upon this amazing scene.

Snapped a photo and wanted to share!

March Photo a Day Series

Sorry for the delay in my posts.
Italian  internet has been slower than slow these past few days.

Day 13: A sign

I really wanted to snap a photo of a cool Italian sign but it's not that easy. For one it's highly illegal to use your cell phone while driving (eek!) not to mention totally dangerous to take your eyes off the road while driving here (super narrow roads, very aggressive drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists on the actual road, etc). So, I had no other choice to but kill two birds with one stone. I needed this telephone number because I'm trying to send wine stuff back to the states plus it's a sign that'll do for this challenge.

Today's challenge:
Someone I talked to today
(Watashi no Okaasan)

Piancavallo Rock Wall

Husband is a total health nut, fitness maniac, adventurous outdoorsman. Even just saying that doesn't quite do him justice. =) Since moving to Italy he's been nothing but impressed with all the mountain ranges that we're surrounded by. A simple 30 minute drive north of our house is a super cool ski resort called Piancavallo. Although it is spring time and the snow is gone (mostly yucky ice remains on the slopes) he enjoys going up there because he can still hike and climb.

Just recently have I started joining him on his outdoor activities and I was so excited for this little outing! I learned how to rappel! It was super cool- hopefully I'll be able to use the skills he taught me for something more technical like actually climbing the rock wall.

Husband waaaaaaaaayyyyy up there.

Here are a few pictures.

March Photo a Day Series

Every Friday I rock Red.
I do it because for the past 5 years I've known someone
personally that has been deployed to a war zone.

It's such a simple gesture.
My hope is that one day I don't have to wear RED on Friday.
Because that means that everyone
I know is safely home with their family.

Today's challenge: Red

Spring is in the air!
These bangles were the perfect accessory to my
Bohemian Chic inspired outfit today.

Today's challenge: Something you wore.

March Photo a Day Series

Not much happens at 5pm...
or so I thought.

I was driving home on the autostrada and I had about
10 minutes to get home before it hit 5pm.
I had this photo concept in my head
earlier in the day and I really only had one shot to get it done.
I was prepared to pull off the autostrada just so that I could stop and take the photo.

Surprisingly, I actually made it to my front gate at 4:59
with just enough time for me to jump out of my car,
pull out my phone and snap a photo.

As it turns out, in my tiny remote piece of land in
all of Pordenone, turns into a friggin' circus the second it hits 5pm.

My car is idling in front of my gate,
perfectly positioned for blocking both roads to the left and right of my house.
Not a big deal because usually around this time
nothing happens. No one is around for miles.

Except today. I kid you not,
within the 120 seconds I was out of my car and
snapping this photo, THREE vehicles magically appear out of no where trying to
leave the estate. A teenager was on his bicycle and I almost
knocked him over when I turned around to get
back into my car. 5 dogs come hauling ass from
the field across my yard and then my cell phone started ringing.

I almost cried.

But in spite of all of that, I got the shot I wanted.
Here's to today's challenge: 5pm.

"With a sweet mustache like his...
She couldn't help but crack A smile."

And with that here's today's challenge.

Day 5: A smile.

March Photo a Day Series

It's early Sunday morning.
Being awake right now makes me a little grumpy.

In a minute the bed will be unmade and this girl will get her Sunday sleep in on.

Day 4: Bedside.

BTW, this was an incredibly difficult photo to take
because for some reason
all my pets wanted in on this photo op.

I kept telling them that's day 24-
they were unpleased by this and left the room.

March Photo a Day Series

I'm hoping that by the end of the month
my picture taking skills will vastly improve.

It's kind of hard to capture how awesome this place
really is because I'm a lame photographer.

It doesn't help that my camera is capable of
so much more than I'm able to wrap my head around either.

Sad to say that the fruit injustice situation continues with today's challenge...

Day 3: My Neighborhood.

March Photo a Day Series

I almost spent all morning trying to get an impeccable shot...
As it turns out fruit pictures,
from an amateur photographer,
just doesn't do the fruit justice.

Sorry fruit, I did the best I could.
If it's any consolation, you were AMAZING in my smoothie!

Today's challenge: Fruit.

March Photo a Day Series

A friend from HS posted this on her FB page
and I thought it would be an awesome thing to do.

This way my friends and family
can get a glimpse into my everyday life here in Italy.

The idea is originally from Fat Mum Slim so feel free to follow along or participate as well.

Today's challenge: UP.
