The Vatican City and Roma

Entering the Vatican City. Pretty cool.

Swiss guards. Hehe.... so scary.

Vatican at night. So much more amazing in real life.

Florence and Pisa

Take a wild guess. =)

The most gigantic duomo I've ever seen.

Boys will be boys

Grappa tasting at our favorite local restaurant.

So, on our epic Eurotrip, we rolled into Milan around 6pm-ish and it was hell. It took us close to an hour to get to our hotel room which was only about a klick and a half a way.

Uber frustrated with the "NYC" vibe we first encountered, we immediately parked the car and started walking to the nearest bar. Then the night digressed. We took two pictures the whole night... It was a fabulous night in Milan.

Oh Sunshine, where art thou?

It's the end of March and I'm itching for the warmth of spring sun. This is a new thing for me since I've always been in love with winter and dark cold rainy days. But I think I've had my fill this year. I just want a few good months of mild weather and beautifully sunny days. I don't think that's too much to ask for.

Since the cake thing has taken off so well this year I haven't had much time to travel which totally bums me out. But, I'm determined to make traveling a priority!

Speaking of traveling, I don't think I've posted any pictures of our epic Eurotrip of 2012! I came home with 900+ photos so, for the sake of keeping this post to a minimum here are a few highlights from Venice.

Just on the other side of the green tent is the gondola station.

The main bridge

Wouldn't it be cool to live here in this bright red building?

Mr. Sandman, please please please bring me a dream!

Holy wowzers, I don't know how I'm even operating right now. I have had roughly 8 hours of sleep total since Thursday. This insomnia is killing me. My entire body is exhausted but my mind refuses to shut down!

I have a pretty serious wind down routine before bed and I'm a huge fan of sleep so it's really odd that I'm even having this issue.

I did laundry at midnight the other night. Crawled into bed close to 3am and then woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed just over two hours later ready to rock. Last night, I got about 90 minutes of shut eye. That's it. And that's on and off...

So, today my plan is to not only physically but mental exhaust myself. I'm about 10 minutes away from having breakfast and then it's off to study my day away.

Music makes me happy

I feel like we've had this conversation before. But it has definitely been a while. Today is St. Patty's day Sunday... I just finished my wicked chest/shoulder/tricep workout with a bunch of cardio at the beginning and a lovely lung piercing run afterward. My motivation was purely music today. Along with the weather, I'm feeling quite dull and ice cold. The only thing that usually puts some fire under my ass is music. Great, heart pounding, sweet dance moves invoking music. The other day I discovered this guy on YouTube and he has the sickest pop music mash ups. I'll embed the vids below.

The rest of the day is pretty much up in the air, just like my Sundays usually are. I've got my weekly lunch date and then I'm thinking of going for one of those long life reflecting drives, probably up north somewhere. We'll see! Enjoy the vids and dance dance dance!

Spring has sprung and what's going on

It's March. Mid- March. This is my first post of the month. I'm the worst blogger on the planet. I promise you my life is way more interesting than these random, incoherent posts. Which is why my posts are so few and far between. I have no time to write anymore!!!

I've snapped pictures of my favorite things as well as written short reviews about them so that should be live within the next couple of days (given I remember to publish it). *Scatter brain is my new ailment, I swear, I can't remember anything these days! ='(

School started back up again and I'm taking a Fine Arts Appreciation class. At first I thought it was super lame, and then half way through it- my opinion hasn't changed. =P I don't know what it is about this class that just doesn't interest me- perhaps it's the way we're supposed to describe our feelings. I don't understand the notion of a standardized grading system based off of my ability to describe how art makes me feel. Nonetheless, the class will be over in a month so I just have to stick with it and play my video game that I have yet to choose and write about it for my final. It's such a wonky world...

This is a comic strip of my daily life in a nutshell. FAA assignment #3

Anyway, I've been doing lots of cake stuff these past few months and that's pretty much where all my attention goes to. I've had a few really big projects that you can read about here.

If you didn't know, I'm going to school for Hospitality Management. Right now the focus is on food and beverage management, but I think that is going to shift towards corporate events and event coordinating. The most recent project that I'm super excited about is my new Cupcake Decorating Party. I've realized how much I love to take a simple idea and turn it into an extraordinary event so I definitely want to try my hand at it, career wise.

To close out this post here are some random tidbits I'd like to share:
- I rediscovered 311
-My first outdoor run of the year was incredible and all the others that followed
-I'm currently addicted to grilled eggplant, or eggplant prepared pretty much anyway whatsoever
-If you use quick lights, I highly encourage you to try Coconaras natural coals instead- life changing.
-I've recently started battling insomnia again

Talk soon.
Ciao!
